Game Developers Conference witnessed AMD announcing Radeon Pro Duo, which is specifically targeted towards developers, and as AMD puts it, it's the world's first platform for content creation.

The dual-GPU, having two Fury X-class graphics cards running parallel, makes it the most powerful graphics card in the world till date. That's how AMD's marketing executive Chris Hook explained this Virtual Reality-focused graphic card.

According to Game Spot, the research began a year back with sampling of VR developers as to what they wanted in a VR card. Interestingly, the sample was a fusion of workstation and gaming drivers that led AMD get across views and feedbacks from both the ends. Priced at $1500 when it will launch in Q2 of 2016, Radeon Pro Duo computes at 16 teraflops, which works on LiquidVR technology and has an onboard radiator for cooling purpose.

The dual-GPU feature on Radeon Pro Duo makes it faster, redundant and helps in sharing load between both the GPU's. AMD sees future in VR and is investing heavily in this technology. AMD's recent partnerships prove it all. AMD has partnered with The Associated Press to make a news collecting VR app. Also, AMD has partnered with Fox studios to give viewers a VR experience in "Assassin's Creed" that shall be launched in December 2016. In addition, AMD partnered with Smithsonian to create a VR app that shall be taking users to Kitty Hawk in North Carolina, famous for the Wright Brothers first flight.

AMD also said that 83 percent of VR systems working presently contain a chip designed by them. This includes the VR giants Oculus Rift and HTC Vive. AMD is also partnering with Crytek to market this to special labs and colleges around the globe. Also AMD shall be launching certification programs for Radeon VR Ready Premium and Radeon VR Ready Creator.
