According to IDC's market analysis, the global tablet market share will fall by 5.9 percent in this year. However, the analyst firm has added the tablet market will meet positive growth in 2017.  It has revealed that the increasing demand of keyboard-detachable tablets will help increasing overall tablet shares in 2017, Business Insider reported.

At present, the 2-in-1 devices powered with Windows 10 operating system like Surface Pro 4 and Surface Book account 53.3 percent of the laptop-tablet hybrid market share. IDC has forecasted that by 2020 Microsoft will gaining a huge market share of 74.6 percent.

According to PC Mag, the Research Director of IDC, Jean Philippe Bouchard has said that with newer brands entering the detachable devices segment, the competition is likely to increase and it may also result in dropping of average prices.

At present, the Redmond tech giant has couple of popular detachable devices in the market such as Surface Pro 4, Surface Pro 3, and Surface Book. However, Apple has only 12.9-inch iPad Pro competing Microsoft's detachable devices. The current market share of iPad Pro is 28.5 percent. However, it is likely to fall to 7.3 percent in 2020.

Apple can still remain competitive in the laptop-tablet market as it is expected to announce a new detachable device in this month. Apple is rumored to release a 9.7-inch iPad Pro that will be a smaller version of the large-sized iPad Pro.

As far as Android powered detachable devices like Google Pixel C are concerned. In 2016, Android laptop-tablet hybrids have hold a market share of 18.1 percent. By 2020, it is expected to achieve a slight growth with an expected market share of 18.2 percent.

In the previous year, the overall tablet market share included only 8 percent of detachable devices. However, IDC's market analysis has forecasted that the 30 percent of the tablet market share will include detachable devices.

Microsoft was among the first firms to majorly market its Surface products to lead the detachable devices markets. Soon other companies such as Dell, Lenovo, Samsung and more entered the lucrative detachable tablets market. Now that the sales of desktop PCs are declining, it seems that 2-in-1 devices may become the future of PC market.
