The Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge smartphones were made available on preorder from Feb. 23. The shipping of the preordered units will start from March 11. However, an unofficial report released by well-known tech analyst from Russia, Eldar Murtazin has reported that the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge preorders are breaking presale records across the various launch markets.

Russia is one of the initial launch markets for Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge smartphones. Murtazin added that the Galaxy S7 is not as popular as the S7 Edge that features a dual curved display.  To support his claim, he revealed that 64 percent Russians have preordered the Galaxy S7 Edge and 36 percent people have opted for Galaxy S7 that comes with a regular display. It has been also found that the Black Onyx edition of the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge is very popular among customers, Phone Arena reported.

The Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge preorders have also started in the U.S. from Feb. 23. Verizon has not yet started the preorders of the new Samsung flagships, but AT&T, T-Mobile and Sprint have already started receiving preorders. Fresh information suggests that AT&T, T-Mobile and Sprint are also aiming to ship the preordered units before March 11.

The reason why the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge smartphones have received such a good initial response is that the South Korean tech giant has brought several new features that were unavailable on the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 smartphones. The Galaxy S6 and S6 were appreciated for their marvelous glass and metal combination design, but were criticized for not featuring water/dust resistance chassis and microSD card slot.

The Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge sport similar chassis like their predecessor but they come with IP68 rating which means they will remain undamaged even if they are immersed in 1.5-meter-deep water for 30 minutes. Both the smartphones feature a hybrid SIM slot which allows users to add a microSD card slot up to 200 GB.
