Samsung Galaxy S7, S7 Edge vs Xiaomi Mi5: Specs compared, launch date revealed!

Samsung launched their latest smartphones Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge during MWC 2016.

In the recently concluded Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, two of the biggest names in the mobile industry revealed their latest innovations. In Feb. 21, Samsung launched their latest smartphones Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge before the convention started, while the Chinese OEM Xiaomi revealed that they will be launching their much awaited flagships for 2016 - Mi5 and Mi5 Pro - this coming March. With these exciting new devices, it wouldn't be surprising if they will be compared to each other.

When it comes to display, Samsung Galaxy S7 has 5.1 inch and S7 Edge has 5.5 inch display protected by Gorilla Glass 4, while Xiaomi Mi5 comes with a 5.15-inch IPS Full HD display. Samsung handsets is packed with better-quality Super AMOLED display with 2,560x1440 pixels resolutions - 577 ppi for Galaxy S7 and 534 ppi for Galaxy S7 Edge. The Xiaomi Mi5, on the other hand, offers 1,920x1,080 pixel resolution at 428 ppi.

When it comes to color variants, Samsung Galaxy S7 will have Black, Silver, Gold and White while Xiaomi Mi5 will have Gold, Black and White, according to International Business Times.

Samsung Galaxy S7 has 4GB of RAM using Snapdragon 820 or Exynos 8890 chipset, depending on the region. Samsung Galaxy S7 is said to have 30 percent more superior CPU with 64 percent stronger GPU compared to its predecessor - the Samsung Galaxy S6. These Samsung handsets come in 32 GB or 64 GB internal storage. Xiaomi Mi5, on the other hand, is said to use Snapdragon 820 chipset as well but in three different versions that will be released in the global markets.

In terms of cameras, Samsung Galaxy S7 is offering a 5MP front camera with f/1.7 lenses, which is perfect for wide-angled selfies and groufies, plus a 12 MP rear camera. Xiaomi Mi5's camera, on the other hand, is equipped with 16 MP rear lens ad 4MP front lens, which is also somewhat good for selfies.  

Both innovative devices from Samsung and Xiaomi have 3,000 mAh batteries with little differences when it comes to its specs and other features. Xiaomi never stops reinventing their products to be on top and be known, while Samsung is striving to do all their best efforts to stay on top and keep their popularity.

The significant difference that these devices have is their starting price.  Xiaomi is said to be selling their Xiaomi Mi5 at around US$350, while Samsung models starts at approximately US$649.99, Android Pit reported.
