Land Rover's new $245,500 limited edition Range Rover follows luxury SUV models launched or announced by Rolls-Royce, Bentley, Porsche, Lamborghini, and Maserati. Its new customized model includes a gun case added by British firearms manufacturer Holland & Holland and a price tag about 47 percent higher than the base price in the United States of $85,000. That makes it one of the most expensive off-road vehicles on the market.

The customized Range Rover includes custom paint, paneling, and upholstery, according to The Verge. That includes a one-of-a-kind dashboard finish that is based on the diamond pattern on the gun company's rifles and shotguns.

The SUV even includes executive rear seating with reclining seats and tables. Land Rover's new SUV will also include French walnut wood detailing and etched door handles.

However, the pièce de résistance is a leather-trimmed gun case in the vehicle's floor that stores two firearms, according to CNN. SUV owners can slide the case forward onto the tailgate for easy access of the unit, or remove it when it is not in use.

Land Rover's new high-end automobile gets just 16 miles per gallon. However, the market for luxury SUVs continues to surge, and the automaker just launched its Range Rover Autobiography months ago with a price tag of nearly $200,000.

A handful of automakers have been introducing luxury SUVs. The first was the Bentley Bentayga that has a base price of $230,000.

Land Rover will only sell 30 of the deluxe SUVs in the U.S., starting in spring 2016.

In other Land Rover news the carmaker recently helped to launch Virgin Galactic's new spaceship. The company's luxury SUV Autobiography towed VSS Unity at the global launch at the Mojave Air and Space Port event in California during which theoretical physicist Stephen Hawking announced the name of SpaceShipTwo.

A Land Rover fleet of vehicles supports the Virgin Galactic teams in the Golden State and New Mexico. They will have a key role in helping future as astronauts after commercial operations begin.

The partnership was announced in April 2014. Land Rover and Virgin Galactic will develop various educational programs to inspire future engineers.
