The first generation model of Tiguan was a success, and about 2.6 million units have been sold out across the world. The previous generation Volkswagen Tiguan was at its peak in 2014, where the company plants produced 500,000 Tiguan models. Because of the enormous production rate, the company earned a first place in most registered SUV's in Germany.

The positive response inspired the company to make it as a sub-brand. Earlier reports have come out stating VW is planning to launch larger versions of Tiguan. This report also has been confirmed by the company last week.

Reliable sources indicate that the manufacturing of this larger model will be in China and Mexico. At the same time, another model of Tiguan will be a 5 door coupe based one. This model will also be launched in 2017. This model will be manufactured in Europe, and is expected to give a tough competition to Range Rover Evoque and Mazda CX-5. However, the company has denied rumors that VW is coming with R models of Tiguan.

According to the market watchers, this move will certainly help the company to get an upper hand in the global competition. This move is similar to that of Hyundai when they promoted Genesis as a separate luxury brand. This move helped Hyundai to capture many virgin markets in the past.

The new models will be delivered to the dealers by the end of 2016, and will be on sale from early 2017. Volkswagen is highly confident about these new models as the first generation model was a great success across the world. According to them, these improved versions will have huge demand.
