Huawei has announced the Honor 9 smartphone as a successor for last year's Honor 8 with the powerful Kirin 960 chipset, dual rear cameras and an impressive design.

Honor 9 Design

The new Honor 9 sports a premium appeal as it features a 3D glass on its rear. It still maintains the metal and glass combo design like the Honor along with a curvier appeal. It comes in multiple colors Sea Blue, Amber Gold, Black and Seagull Gray, Gizmo China reported.The appearance of the phone is quite similar to that of Xiaomi Mi 6.

Honor 9 Specifications

The Honor 9 has a 5.15-inch screen that produces full HD resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels. Below the display is the fingerprint scanner enabled Home button. The HiSilicon Kirin 960 chipset powers the Honor 9. Its 6 GB RAM variant comes in two internal storage choices of 64 GB and 128 GB. Its 4 GB RAM variant features 64 GB of storage.

The Honor 9 is equipped with a Hi-Fi audio chip that delivers live audio listening experience. It is running EMUI 5.1 flavored Android Nougat OS. The Honor 9 has a dual rear camera system that includes 20-megapixel monochrome sensor + 12-megapixel RGB sensor. It comes with features like loseless zoom, dual-LED flash and laser autofocus. Its front-facing camera is of 8-megapixel. The Honor 9 is powered by 3,200mAh battery.

Honor 9 Price and Release Date

The 4 GB RAM + 64 GB storage variant of Honor 9 is priced at 2,299 Yuan (~$338). This model is now available on Vmall. It will be arriving on Amazon.cn and official Honor site from July 11 and 12, respectively.

The 6 GB + 64 GB variant is priced at 2,699 Yuan (~$397) and the 6 GB + 128 GB model costs 2,999 Yuan (~$441). The Honor 9 pre-orders will begin on June 15 and it will officially go on sale from June 16. Fresh information suggests that the smartphone has already crossed 350,000 registrations in 24 hours, Playful Droid reported. There is no details on when the Honor 9 will be made available outside of China.
