HTC is all set for the launch of its new smartphone the HTC U 11 on May 16. The squeezable pressure-sensitive metallic frame of the phone will be its USP. The company is likely to release a dedicated Edge Sense app for it.

In the last week, the Taiwan-based company had released a teaser video of its upcoming flagship phone. The teaser video of the HTC U 11 phones showed people squeezing different items such as ketchup, teddy, lemon, sponge and bottle.

The video consist of words that say "squeeze the brilliant." And next to it is seen the letter 'U" that turns into "C" in the word HTC at the end. It indicates that the HTC U 11 smartphone will be having a squeezable touch-sensitive frame.

Some reports suggest that the upcoming phone is likely to feature pressure sensors on the sides. Fresh information suggest that the company will be launching a dedicated Edge Sense app that will train users on how to use the touch-sensitive for various functions.

A well-known tipster Evan Blass claimed that the HTC U 11 will be coming in White, Black, Red, Blue, and Silver color variants. The phone is codenamed as "Ocean", IndianExpress reported.The specifications for the HTC U 11 have been already surfaced before the launch date.

The HTC U 11 phone is rumored to sport a 5.5-inch LCD display with quad HD resolution of 2,560 x 1,440 pixels. It is said to include a corning gorilla glass 5 protection. The smartphone is expected to come equipped with Qualcomm's Snapdragon 835 chipset. The phone is likely to carry  6 GB of RAM and come in two storage options of  64 GB and 128 GB. It is said to include expandable storage.

The HTC U 11 is speculated to run on Android 7.1.1 Nougat. The smartphone is pegged to feature a 12-megapixel rear camera and a 16-megapixel front shooter. It will come with fingerprint scanner inbuilt in the physical Home button. The phone is likely to boast IP57 chassi which will make it resistant to dust and come waterproof.

In terms of connectivity, it is expected to support 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, NFC, and USB Type-C port. The smartphone is likely to come equipped with a 3,000 mAh battery and support quick charge, MySmartprice reported.
