New updates for the latest "God of War" sequel will feature a 2018 releas date and possibly the most violent game in the series.

It seems a new development for "God of War's" release date PlayStation 4 as past reports suggest that Portuguese retailer website Gaming Replay placed the game at a Sept. 14. However, the official Twitter profile of Kratos voice-actor Christopher Judge revealed that the sequel is set on 2018.

Judge confirmed his role as the “Ghost of Sparta” in June last year, taking over from Terrence Carson who did the voice work for the previous "God of War" titles. Game director Cory Barlog is still being subtle when discussing "God of War" PS4's release date.

When asked to give a definite launch period by a fan, Balrog replied by stating that it will be done when it is done. Although this is the mindset that players wish a lot of developers would adhere to, the news that "God of War" will not be releasing in 2017 after all is sure to be a disappointment to many, Gamerant reported.

Many gaming fans were skeptical on Gaming Replay's Septemeber launch date of "God of War" since Santa Monica Studio has not yet revealed much information about the game, let alone a new trailer or gameplay video since E3 2016.

Balrog alsos stated that the new "God of War" for the PS4 could be the most brutal and violent in the game series as PEGI rated the sequel 18+ in the European rating board, SegmentNext reported.

Balrog teased that "God of War" will take place before the Viking age and will feature a multiplayer mode. Santa Monica Studio posted job listings on their website as they are looking for a Senior Multiplayer Programmer. Employees for the job must have valued talent, self-motivation, and team spirit. In turn, the studio will provide an environment with a large degree of freedom and autonomy.

As for the absents of vikings in "God of War," Balrog Balrog assured gaming fans that "God of War" will feature elements from Norse Mythology and Santa Monica Studio have been exploring the lore of Scandinavia.

The development team’s mindset for the sequel's creation is rooted in “a prehistory point," where gods did walk the Earth, when monsters were real, before they became extinct.

For now, there is no announcement for "God of War's" release date for the PS4.
