Xiaomi Mi Max 2 Launching on April 19 with Xiaomi Mi 6, Mi 6 Plus

Xiaomi has confirmed to launch Mi 6 and Mi 6 Plus smartphones on April 19. Speculations also indicate that the Mi Max 2 phablet may also get unveiled on the same date.

The original Mi Max was launched in May 2016. Hence, the rumor mill had been predicting that the Mi Max 2 would be announced in May this year. However, fresh information suggest that it may get unveiled on April 19. Past rumors had revealed that the Snapdragon 660 chipset which is yet to be officially announced by Qualcomm could be powering the Mi Max 2 phablet.

However, new details hint that the phone would be powered by Snapdragon 626 SoC which is a higher clocked version of Snapdragon 625 chipset present inside the original phone, Phone Arena reported. The SD 626 can deliver 10 percent improved performance over its predecessor chipset. Some speculations hint that the Snapdragon 626 powered Mi Max 2 could be the Standard model and its Higher variant may feature Snapdragon 660 chipset. The Standard model may feature 4 GB of RAM and the Higher variant may arrive with 6 GB of RAM, Gizmo China reported.

Rumors have it that the Xiaomi Mi Max 2 would be arriving with a brilliant camera. It is said to feature a 12-megapixel Sony IMX378 rear snapper that is available on the Xiaomi Mi 5S smartphone. For snapping selfies, is speculated to feature a 5-megapixel camera.

As far as the size of the display is concerned, the Mi Max 2 will continue to sport a mammoth 6.44-inch full HD display that is available on the predecessor phone. The phablet is pegged to come loaded with Android 7.1.1 Nougat OS skinned with MUI 8. The original Mi Max has a 4,850 mAh battery. However, its successor is rumored to come with a 5,000 mAh battery with quick charge support. The Standard and Higher models are speculated to launch with respective pricing of $217 and $248, respectively.
