Unless, Capcom has actually been developing the title for a huge amount of time and thus has nearly all of the work done on it, there is still a great deal of work to do for "Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite" before the game can be released in all gaming platforms, Segment Next reported.

Meanwhile, it seems that every Marvel game being developed will not be tied to the Marvel Cinematic Universe produced by Marvel Studios.

Marvel Games creative director Bill Rosemann stated that the teams making the games are granted the freedom to come up with their own original depiction of the story and they will not match to the films being made in the MCU, both old and upcoming, IGN reported. Rosemann mentioned several of these titles which include the new "Spider-Man" in the PS4, "Guardians of the Galaxy: The Telltale Series", "Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite" and "The Avengers" project from Square Enix.

Lastly, "Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite" will feature several unique gameplay features as the sequel will go bacl to its 2v2 battle rather than the 3v3 in previous titles.

Game co-producer Peter Rosas explained the reason for bringing back the 2v2 format in "Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite" as he feels that players were encumbered with too many decisions before a brawl even began as the team sizes are rather unwieldy, as the first and second character picks often were more important than the third, which is typically a tacked on selection.

The game will also feature Infinite Stones to enhance the characters abilities during battles. "Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite" will feature a cinematic storyline along with a number of single player modes like Arcade, Training and Missions.

In addition, multiplayer modes will include Ranked and Casual matches, Global leaderboards and online lobbies with spectator mode to deepen the overall experience.

"Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite" will launch sometime in 2017 for the PS4, Xbox One and PC platforms.
