The shotguns in "Destiny" were rebalanced in the new HotFix 2.5.0.2 update which was released on Tuesday, Feb. 14. Bungie's latest fix update rebalanced many Player Vs Player (PVP) weapons. It is the most notable change and, according to reports, mid-air accuracy of weapons was greatly reduced as well. The PVP gun's effectiveness will become harder though especially when pulling off a mid-air trick shot.

The shotgun's aim assists when firing from the hips have been disabled, and it appears that Bungie is encouraging players to use ADS (aimed down sights) more than hip fire for more gun effectiveness. Another change from the Destiny HotFix 2.5.0.2 update is the removal of shotgun precision damage. However, the rebalances do not include two exotic weapons such as Universal Remote and The Chaperone. To makeup, reports claim that the weapon's base damage buff was increased by 20 percent. Unfortunately, Bungie has not clarified if the two shotguns will receive the base damage buff as well. The game developer has not revealed details about the matter yet.

Another change from "Destiny" hotFix 2.5.0.2 is the removal of movement nerf while holding the weapon and the ADS time has been slowed down by 25 percent on the Rangefinder perk but when using a shotgun only. Players start Crucible matches with Special Weapon ammo which drops when you die unless you use a sidearm. Crates with Special ammo respawn every minute but give ammo to team members within 75 meters of it, not 100. Other changes include 90-second rounds instead of two minutes, Special ammo provided in the first round only, Blink disabling radar and HUD after it is used, Titans cannot use Juggernaut in mid-air and health generation starting immediately to Hungering Blade, Red Death, Warlock's Lifesteal, and Titan's Transfusion.

"Over the next couple of weeks, we will be diligently watching and listening to what you have to say about these changes," sandbox designer Josh Hamrick said in a forum post. "While we will be unsurprised if additional tweaks need to be made, we are honestly super interested to see how these changes, intended or not, play out. We will be relying on you to give us your feedback as you grow accustomed to the feel of the game over the next couple of weeks. We will also be with you in-game, playing along and making our own notes."
