Samsung is expected to release its upcoming flagship codenamed Baikal, also known as Galaxy Note 8, this year. The Samsung Galaxy Note 8 is predicted to come with Qualcomm Snapdragon 835, 4K Display and 6 GB of RAM with other top of the line specs and features.

According to reports, tech experts tweeted that Samsung codenamed the Galaxy Note 8 as Baikal. Speculations started on Monday when images surfaced online depicting Baikal, a rift lake which is located in Southern Siberia. It can be remembered that the South Korean tech giant has already confirmed to launch the Galaxy Note 8 after it discontinued the Galaxy Note 7.

A lot of rumors about the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Note 8 are already circulating online but Samsung has not confirmed any of the speculated specs and features yet. It is speculated that Samsung may use the removable battery feature again as it needs to be extra cautious with its battery this time.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 8 is said to feature a 4K SuperAMOLED display, either a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 or Exynos 8895 processor and 6 GB of RAM. Other rumored specs include ARM Mali-G71 GPU, 3,500 mAh battery capacity, artificial intelligence capabilities and major improvements in storage and camera. It is expected to sport a rear dual camera with 16 MP and 8 MP sensors and an updated S pen which may also come with a fingerprint scanner.

Experts claim that the company will release the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 earlier in an attempt to win its customers back. It was believed that Samsung will unveil the Note 8 in the first quarter of 2017 during the CES 2017 (Consumer Electronics Show) but it was not the case.

It will likely be unveiled at the MWC 2017 (Mobile World Congress) in March. However, many believe this time line is not plausible because based on tradition, the company releases the Galaxy S series models earlier than the Note line. Other reports said that Samsung could also change the name of the Galaxy Note 8.
