The Apple iMac 2017 could be unveiled in March and it is speculated to come with revolutionary specs like the latest Intel Kaby Lake processor, VR support and Thunderbolt 3.

Apple CEO Tim Cook has confirmed that a 5K all-in-one iMac will be launched soon. Fans speculate that the Apple iMac 2017 will come with S-Series desktop chips such as Core i5-7500, Core i5-7600 and Core i7-7700K in the 27-inch Mac.

"The current generation iMac is the best desktop we have ever made and its beautiful Retina 5K display is the best desktop display in the world. Some folks in the media have raised the question about whether we're committed to desktops. If there's any doubt about that with our teams, let me be very clear: we have great desktops in our roadmap. Nobody should worry about that," Cook said in a question and answer session on Apple's internal employee network.

Apple held an event on Oct. 27 and since the Apple iMac 2017 was not unveiled there, it will either be launched in March or at the WWDC 2017 in June. According to MacWorld, the iMac 2017 release date delay was caused by the new Intel Kaby Lake processor which has just been released. The 7th Gen Intel Core i7 is expected to magnify the device's performance exponentially.

The Intel Kaby Lake processor will improve the device's graphics performance and battery performance and will also give the iMac 2017 with DisplayPort 1.2, Thunderbolt 3 and USB 3.1 support. It could feature a Polaris 10 graphics card, AMD Zen processor and external flash drives for PC users as well.

Best Buy earlier listed the new iMac 2017 with Retina 5K display, Kaby Lake processor, 2TB Fusion drive and 32GB Memory. However, it could have been just a mistake. Apple last updated the iMacs on Oct. 13, 2015, bringing the new Skylake processor chips on the larger Mac and the Retina screen on the smaller ones for the first time. Before that, it launched the iMac with Haswell processors, next-gen WiFi, new graphics and faster PCIe flash storage options in 2013. Based on the company's tradition, now is the right time to introduce an iMac update.
