While the idea of an enhanced Pixel phone sounds great, having a budget counterpart of Google's newest flagship is even better for those who are money-conscious. As reported by 9to5Google, a reputable source indicated that Google is working on a "Pixel 2B" that will be released shortly after the much improved Pixel 2. As a budget-phone, the Pixel 2B will have less powerful hardware to fit its more affordable price point. The tipster also added that Google aims to bring their phone and the Google experience to emerging markets.

What to expect with the Pixel 2

As an enhanced version of Google Pixel, the Pixel 2 is rumored to sport a better chipset and better camera without upping the camera pixels itself. To compensate for that, Google is likely to add more features. As the source claimed, the second generation Pixel will be waterproof instead of having splashproof protection used on the current handset.

TechRadar noted that this may be the reason why Pixel 2 will have just a $50 increase or so from the original handset's price. With a fairly expensive price tag of $649 for their latest model at the moment, the next Google flagship can have a base price as high as $700. Having the budget Pixel - 2B - would be very much appreciated by those who do not want to spend a lot of money and yet still desire to have a Pixel phone.

The source also added Google is currently testing several chips, including Intel chips and Qualcomm's Snapdragon 83X, to choose which one will power up their next generation devices. If all things work well, the second generation Pixel and Pixel 2B might arrive later this year. Stay tuned for more updates.
