The Google Pixel trumps the Galaxy S7 Edge in terms of personal assistants. The Google Assistant is a very important feature because it is context-aware and very smart in handling follow-up commands. Users do not have to talk like a robot to be understood, and the assistant knows whether a question is related to a previous one or not. The assistant is currently exclusively available for the Google Pixel and Pixel XL.

Google's Assistant can help users to book dinner reservations and find easier traffic routes with just the use of voice commands.

The Google Pixel has been criticized for its lack of any microSD card slot for memory expansion, but it comes with a unique free photo and video storage option. Everything that the user captures gets automatically backed up to Google Photos for free. Google's is a cloud-based photo management app offers unlimited storage of photos up to 16 MP and videos up to 1080p free of charge. It automatically clears out content that has been backed up at full quality. Another big advantage is that there is 24/7 support. A Google expert can provide solutions via video or text chat.

The Galaxy S7 Edge features a 5.5-inch screen with 32 GB or 64 GB in-built storage and 4 of RAM. It also has either a Samsung Exynos 8 octa 8890 or Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor with new features such as the "Always On" mode, a water resistant case, and a 3,600 mAh battery capacity. The Samsung S7 Edge comes in three colors for the 32 GB model and sports expandable storage options, enabling users to expand their 32 GB storage to up to 128 GB through a microSD card.

Meanwhile, the Google Pixel features a 5.5-inch AMOLED screen with 2,560 x 1,440 pixels resolution. It comes with the Android 7.0 Nougat operating system out of the box and is capable of split-screen windows and a battery-saving Doze mode. The phone is compatible with the Daydream View VR headset and comes with a 3,450 mAh battery. It is also dust and water-resistant but will be damaged when submerged in water. According to a Geekbench test, the Google Pixel achieved a sore of 1,648 and 4,121 for the single-core and multi-core tests, respectively.

Google is said to be targeting photographers with the new Pixel handsets and plans to replace the Apple iPhone camera which is currently the most used camera on image hosting site Flickr.
