On the design front, the new Snapchat has a new search bar front and center. It is design in order to make it easier for users to chat with friends and groups anywhere in the app. Stories shared by friends and brands will also appear on the search bar, making it easy to access them.

Aside from the search bar, the Snapchat app also features new animations and card-based system which can be used in swiping between the main camera, chat screen, and Stories. Bitmoji, the application which Snapchat bought last year, will be featured front and center as well.

Due to the current proliferation of fake news on social media platforms, Snapchat is introducing new guidelines for publishers with regards to the use of Discover. Starting Monday, Snapchat will now restrict publishers from using any image or headlines from Discover that lack any sort of editorial value.

In a statement acquired by The Guardian, Snapchat said that the changes are meant to "empower our editorial partners to do their part to keep Snapchat an informative, factual and safe environment for everyone."

This latest move is part of Snapchat's move to turn Discover into a platform for serious news. Also to cut down on fake news and clickbait articles which are being distributed on the platform. According to The New York Times, Snapchat is also working on a new age-gating tool for publishers that will prevent minor users from accessing contents on Discover that are inappropriate for their age.
