Amazon earlier this month announced that the company will be hiring 100,000 full-time employees to be added to its American operation. The e-commerce giant added that it is expecting to fulfill this within the next 18 months. Amazon's latest announcement came is as the private sector is being pressured by the current Trump administration regarding outsourcing their jobs to other countries.

Amazon announced on Thursday that the hiring plan will push its current U.S. employees to 280,000 once completed. Amazon had 180,000 employees by the end of 2016. Amazon will be hiring a wide range of professionals from engineers and developers whose tasks is to work on cloud computing to lower-tiered titles like warehouse operators which handles the company's packages business in states like California, Texas, Florida, as well as the Midwest.

In a statement acquired by Seattle Times, Amazon chief executive officer Jeff Bezos said, "We plan to add another 100,000 new Amazonians across the company over the next 18 months as we open new fulfillment centers, and continue to invent in areas like cloud technology, machine learning and advanced logistics."

Recently, Amazon confirmed that it is planning to open a new fulfillment center in Aurora, Colorado. Amazon added that it is looking to hire 1,000 people to fill various jobs within the facility. According to The Denver Channel, the new fulfillment center is less than five miles away from the company's sorting facility which opened its doors in June 2016.

The new Aurora fulfillment center will be a one million square-foot facility. Employees in this new facility will pick, pack, and ship larger customer items like furniture, musical instruments, and sports equipment. Moreover, Amazon already has a working sorting center based in Aurora.

Amazon confirmed that employees on the new facility will receive competitive hourly wages, company stock awards, healthcare benefits, and 401K.
