Camera maker Leica recently launched the new M10, the newest addition to the company's growing M series. Leica announced that the M10 would be available in limited quantities starting Jan. 19.

The Leica M10 is the first rangefinder camera that the company has released in the last four years, according to The Verge. It features a streamlined design and losses some features from its predecessor, the Leica M240.

The new Leica M10 features a new image sensor, image processor, and support for wireless connectivity. The M10 is also thinner compared to its predecessor.

At the heart of the Leica M10 is a new sensor. It features 24-megapixels which makes it on par of the M Typ 240. However, Leica claims that the M10 features a redesigned microlens architecture and the removal of the optical low-pass filter bring in significant improvements in terms of image sharpness.

The new sensor is paired with the latest version of the company's Maestro II image processor. The combination of these two impressive set of specs results in a maximum continuous burst rate of five frames per second and a very expansive ISO range of 100 to 50,000. The Leica M10 also boasts of a massive 2GB image buffer which allows photographers to shoot using longer bursts, according to Digital Trends.

The M10 is Leica's first M branded camera to support Wi-Fi connectivity. As of this writing, it only supports iOS devices, but Leica has noted that Android support is also on its way. On the exterior, the Leica M10 has a new ISO dial located on the top left part of the camera. This allows users to change all exposure settings without the hassle of going through the menu.

The M10's rangefinder also received an upgrade of 0.73x magnification, 50 percent in the eye-relief distance, and 30 percent in the field of view.

The Leica M10 will be available at select retailers for $6,495.
