LG, Google Working on 2 new Smartwatches That Will run on Android Wear 2.0

LG and Google are reportedly working on new smartwatch models. LG will be the one to manufacture the smartwatches, while Google will use them as flagship devices for the upcoming official launch of its Android Wear 2.0 update.

This news came from notable tipster Evan Blass. According to Blass, two new smartwatches will be released named LG Watch Style and LG Watch Sport. The two smartwatches are expected to be launched on Feb. 9 and will go on sale the next day in the United States. The two smartwatches will reportedly become available in other regions in February and March.

The LG Watch Sport will be the high-end model of the two. According to Android Headlines, the smartwatch sports a 1.38-inch rounded display with a resolution of 480 x 480. It packs 768MB of memory, 4GB of storage space, and a 430mAh battery pack. The smartwatch has an IP68 certification making it dust and waterproof up to a certain depth.

The LG Watch Style has a smaller 1.2-inch rounded display with 360 x 360 resolution. It packs 512MB of memory, 4GB of storage space, and a less powerful 240mAh battery pack. Just like the Watch Sport, the Watch Style is also dust proof and waterproof.

According to Wareable, the LG Watch Sport has a thickness of 14.2mm, while the Watch Style is a bit thin at 10.8mm. The Watch Sport will be available in titanium and dark blue color, while the Watch Style will be available in rose gold, silver, and titanium color.

Both models are expected to support Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity options. The Watch Sport is expected to support 3G and LTE cellular technology, while the Watch Style will not. As flagship devices, the two smartwatches will run on Android Wear 2.0 right out of the box.
