Ford Unveils New 2018 Mustang

A leaked promotional video posted on YouTube has given the motoring community a glimpse of what to expect from the 2018 Ford Mustang. Days after the leak was posted, Ford officially debuted the 2018 Mustang.

Based on a series of photos shared by Ford, the new Mustang sports a more muscular body as well as a handful of new technologies integrated inside it. Despite these new features and upgrades, Ford is dropping one model for the 2018 series,and that is the V6-powered model, according to CNet.

On the outside, the 2018 Mustang gets a new hood and grille design up front. All the models in the 2018 Mustang series will feature LED headlights. On the rear end, the muscle car gets a slightly adjusted bumper and LED taillights as well, according to Digital Trends. As with almost every new Mustang model, the 2018 model gets bigger exhaust tips as the engine is more powerful.

The new Mustang Performance Package packs magnetorheological shocks that automatically adjusts damping forces depending on different road conditions. All new models also pack new shock absorbers and sway bars.

With the V6 option now ditched, the 2.3-liter engine will be the base model. The 5.0-liter V8 engine is still present, and now packs a new system that combines direct fuel injection and port giving the engine more power. All 2018 Mustang models are available in six-speed manual transmission or Ford's new 10-speed automatic transmission system.

Some of the biggest upgrades made by Ford on the new Mustang are on the tech side. Ford added a handful of new driver assist technologies. Among these are autonomous emergency braking, forward collision warning, lane-keep assist, and lane-departure warning.

There is also a new 12-inch LCD on the dashboard. Ford is also integrating the new Mustang Sync 3 infotainment system which can be used to lock, unlock, locate, and start the car through a smartphone.

The 2018 Ford Mustang is expected to hit showrooms this fall. Ford is yet to confirm the official pricing of the car.
