The Android 7.0 update, which already rolled out to Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge smartphones, has been stopped in China and replaced with a new beta.

Rumors that Samsung has started rolling out the Android 7.0 Nougat update to the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge circulated online last week. It was said to have been released to select devices, preceding an imminent full rollout to all. The Galaxy S6, S6 Edge, S6 Edge Plus, and Note 5 are reportedly next in line for the Android Nougat software update, but the sudden halt came as a surprise to users.

Samsung opened the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge Android 7.0 Nougat Beta Program which was a soak test of the new build G935FXXU1DPLR with January's monthly security patch. The South Korean tech giant recently ended it and started rolling out the final and official release of the update to those who joined the beta program.

This prompted speculations that the official release will be soon. However, a new beta with build number G9350ZCU2ZQA4 is being rolled out in China to replace the previous update. It is 213.30 MB large and is reportedly close to the official Nougat update. Samsung reportedly found bugs and issues in the previous build.

Despite the recent Note 7 debacle, Samsung remains the top manufacturer and seller of Android smartphones in the world. According to YouMobile, the list of confirmed devices which will get the Android 7 Nougat update are the Samsung Galaxy S6, S6 Edge, S6 Edge Plus, Galaxy S7, S7 Edge, Galaxy Note 5 and even the Galaxy Note 7.

The Android Nougat will bring new features to devices, fix bugs and issues and improve overall performance. It is also expected to bring a tweaked UI with instant control toggles, and space-efficient notifications. It will come with a quick switch and multi-window for excellent multitasking. Additionally, there is a quick reply feature and notification bundling for a less cluttered control panel shade.
