The Apple MacBook Pro and Microsoft Surface Book are two of the most in-demand laptops.

However, due to the steep cost of the newest MacBook Pro (about $1,299 to $2,799 depending on the specs), some users have opted to switch to the Microsoft Surface Book which costs about $1,499 to $2,399.

Alex Hern said he made the switch from MacBook Pro to Surface Book and the most difficult thing about it is getting used to a completely different operating system after being used to MacOS for a long time.

"My expectations going in were uncertain. I know Windows has evolved radically since I last used it. Memories of blue screens of death, of driver conflicts, of cleaning out my registry and restoring the system after a malware infection, are hard to shake, as is the general hangover from my youth of Microsoft as the Great Satan of the tech world," Hern writes.

However, Microsoft assures in its website that "it's easy to switch from Mac to Surface. Your new Surface will work well with iTunes, iCloud, and iPhone. And many of the gestures, shortcuts and features are similar to what you already know."

The Microsoft Surface Book features a 13.5-inch PixelSense screen with 3000 x 2000 pixels resolution. The Surface Book also boasts of 16-hour battery life on a single charge while running on Windows 10 Pro. It comes with the sixth-gen i7 processor and Nvidia GeForce GTX 965M. 

Meanwhile, the MacBook Pro is the first laptop to sport the Touch ID feature that lets a user quickly switch between accounts. It has an all-metal aluminum body and is powered by an Intel Core i5 / i7 dual-core processor. It comes with 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of internal storage space.

The MacBook Pro features the Radeon Pro 14nm GPU which makes 3D graphics 130 percent better, gaming 60 percent better, and video editing 57 better than its predecessor.  It comes with a larger trackpad with a more responsive keyboard and Force Touch.

The MacBook Pro comes in two sizes: 13 and 15-inch variants. Both laptops come with a new touch display strip that offers controls and shortcuts with just the use of fingertips. The Touch Bar is placed above the keyboard and automatically displays the most relevant controls. With just one hand on the Touch Bar and another one on the track pad, users can work around Photoshop smoothly.
