The Kyocera DuraForce Pro smartphone has been released by Verizon Wireless in the U.S. and Canada.

The Kyocera DuraForce Pro is the latest rugged smartphone from Japanese mobile manufacturer Kyocera, which is known for making some good rugged smartphones. It is one of the few high-end rugged smartphones available in the market.

The Kyocera DuraForce Pro has a slight curve on the back that offers a nice grip to hold onto the bulky, rugged surface. It has a 5-inch full high-definition Sapphire Shield display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. It features a 13-megapixel camera at the back with LED flash that can record videos at 1080p resolution and also comes with a 5-megapixel front-facing camera for selfies.

Under the hood, the Kyocera DuraForce Pro is powered by a 64-bit octa-core Snapdragon 617 chipset clocked at a speed of 1.5 GHz and coupled with Adreno 405 graphics processing unit for a better gaming performance and experience. It comes with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of built-in memory that can be further extended up to a maximum of 256GB via a microSD card slot.

The Kyocera DuraForce Pro sports the Military Standard 810G and IP68 certifications making it waterproof, shockproof, and dust proof. It can stay up to 30 minutes under water at two meters depth, making it useful for underwater photography or video recording. One unique feature is the wide-angle action camera equipped on the rear that can give a 135-degree field of view.

The Kyocera DuraForce Pro is packed with a 3240 mAh non-removable battery that can provide 24.8 hours of talk time and lasts up to 15 days on standby. It runs on the Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow operating system out of the box.

The Kyocera DuraForce Pro measures 1484 x 73.4 x 12.9 mm in dimension with a weight of 230 grams. It comes with a fingerprint scanner embedded into the power button placed on the right edge that can be accessed with the gloved or wet hands.
