Netgear's new wireless security camera, the Arlo Pro, is nOt just neat-looking. Netgear claims that it can run for six months on a single charge - and that it does more than just last that long.

The Arlo Pro, according to The Verge, can be used indoors or outdoors just like its older brothers. Aside from recording a video once it detects movement within its field of vision, this camera can do much more.

The Arlo Pro comes with a microphone. With this, it can monitor noise and use it as a cue for when to start recording videos. It also has a speaker embedded in its body, which gives it an intercom function for when its owner wants to speak to the people standing in front of the camera. This latter function can be done through the Arlo Pro's smartphone app.

More than that, the Arlo Pro can run for six long months on a single charge. While the standard Arlo is an exclusive battery-only camera that requires users to take it down for battery replacement every six months, the Arlo Pro contains a rechargeable battery that seldom needs charging. It also offers wired connection.

Engadget reported that the Arlo Pro has a wide 130-degree field of vision. Coupled with its weatherproof capabilities, users can just stick it on a tree and feel free to watch recorded videos that were taken in the rain by day or night, thanks to its night vision capability and infrared motion sensor.

Netgear stated that the Arlo Pro would be given the ability to identify between different moving objects through a software update later this year. With this, the Arlo Pro will be able to accurately identify which movement is worth pinging its owner about.

The base Arlo Pro system is already available for $250 (hub included), with additional standalone cameras at $190 each.
