A list has come out showing which Samsung smartphones will receive the upcoming Android 7.0 Nougat update. It includes most of Samsung flagship S and Note devices, as well as Edge variants.

The Google rollout of the Android 7.0 Nougat update is starting to gain momentum after the company announced it would come pre-installed in its new Pixel smartphones.

Despite its recent Note 7 debacle, Samsung remains the top manufacturer and seller of Android devices all over the world. According to YouMobile, the Samsung devices which will get the Android 7 Nougat update include the Galaxy S6, S6 Edge, S6 Edge Plus, Galaxy S7, S7 Edge, Galaxy Note 5 and even the Galaxy Note 7.

These are all the recent Samsung flagship smartphones. Conspicuously absent is the Galaxy Note 4 which is about two years old already. The same goes for its partner, the Galaxy Note Edge model, which is also near the two-year mark.

The two-year time frame is an indicator of whether an Android device will get the latest Android upgrade or not. The Galaxy S5 is already two and a half years old now, but it still made the Android 6.0 Marshmallow cut. This means it is possible that these devices could still receive the Android 7.0 Nougat update but will probably be deprioritized in favor of newer models.

Google did not announce the Android Nougat at the Google IO 2016 event, and fans hope that the company is giving developers more time to tinker with the update. Phone makers and app developers are expected to be more prepared for Android 7 when it is eventually released.
