Nintendo has yet to confirm whether or not the NX does exist. However, as the 2016 Electronic Entertainment Expo approaches, several tech analysts are starting to speculate about the console's specs. According to CNet, Nintendo could most likely debut the NX at this year's E3 and release it later this year or early in 2017.

One of the most notable speculation claims that the Nintendo NX will have improved performance compared to the PlayStation 4. Additionally, the Nintendo NX specs will rank somewhere around the mid-range PC bracket.

Some rumors suggest that the Nintendo NX will support X86 PC architecture, just like the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. This design will allow the console to easily handle ports of current generation games as well as support second-screen experiences and the integration of smart devices.

In terms of storage, there are rumors claiming that the Nintendo NX will back up its data through the cloud. It is still a mystery how Nintendo will pull this one off but this one feature is getting a positive nod from gamers and analysts alike.

Perhaps the most interesting of all rumors regarding the Nintendo NX is the one that claims the console will support 4K resolution. While this rumor is not entirely new, it is one of the most discussed topics regarding the upcoming console from Nintendo.

The PlayStation 4 does support 4K resolution but only for photos and videos. The console does no support 4K resolution output for video games.

According to Forbes, 4K is currently considered as the gold standard in the industry and it is still quite expensive, a reason that many analysts pointed could make or break the Nintendo NX.

The future of Nintendo in the gaming industry is hanging by a thread and the success of the Nintendo NX could make and break the company. For now, tech and market analysts all agree that Nintendo cannot afford yet another flop thus should double its effort in making the NX appeal in the gaming crowd.
