The release date of the LG G5 Lite seems imminent as the smartphone was spotted on TENAA, a certification body from China.

The LG G5 flagship smartphone was unleashed during the Mobile World Congress (2016) event in February. Now, the South Korean tech giant is expected to launch its lower-end smartphone called LG G5 Lite. The alleged smartphone has been found listed on TENAA. The listing on the Chinese certification body has revealed its specifications and features.

The purported LG G5 Lite carries a model number of LG H868. The image revealed by TENAA listing has revealed it resembles the LG G5 flagship smartphone in appearance. The LG G5 Lite features a 5.3-inch display that carries support for Quad HD resolution, GSM Arena reported.

The LG G5 is powered by Snapdragon 820 chipset, but the LG G5 Lite is fueled by Snapdragon 652. It is an octa-core chipset that features four cores of Cortex A53 and another four cores of Cortex A73. It also includes Adreno 510 graphics. Instead of 4 GB of RAM present on LG G5, its stripped down edition features 3 GB of RAM.

The LG H848 model features a modular design. It is packed with a dual camera setup like the LG G5. It is equipped with two cameras of 16 MP and 8 MP. The native storage of the LG G5 Lite is 32 GB. It will arrive preinstalled with Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS.

Since the device has been certified in China, its release is imminent in the country. Rumors are rife that LG won't be releasing LG G5 in Latin America, but it will be getting the LG G5 Lite, Phone Arena reported. The LG G5 carries support for VR 360 headset. However, the Latin American edition of LG G5 will not support the VR device. It is not known whether the smartphone will support other accessories of LG G5.

Speculations suggest that It is a costing cutting effort of LG to launch the LG G5 with Snapdragon 652 SoC in Latin America. The sales manager of LG Chile, Cristian Correa has said the decision of cancelling VR headset in Latin American countries is mainly because lack of interest in VR entertainment. There is no confirmation on the U.S. release date for LG G5 Lite.
