Initial rumors claim that Apple Watch 2 is expected to debut alongside the new iPad Pro and iPhone SE. However, the highly anticipated Apple event came and went and no second generation Apple Watch was unveiled.

On the other hand, for those who are interested in buying a premium smart wearable device, Apple announced that it is dropping the regular price of the Apple Watch from $349 to $299 for the 38mm Sport model, according to Mac World. Apple also unveiled a handful of new bands. Apple chief operating officer Tim Cook claims that more than a third of Watch owners change the stock straps with new ones right after purchase.

One of the new bands is the aptly called Woven Nylon which Cook claims is made from colorful materials which are crafted in four layers. There are new Sports Bands, a handful of new Leather band colors and a new Space Black Milanese Loop.

There are also hints that Apple might release an updated Apple Watch or the new watchOS 3 during the company's fall event. In the meantime, the latest version of Apple Watch operating system is the WatchOS 2.2 which was released alongside iOS 9.3.

WatchOS 2.2 allows users to pair multiple Apple Watches with a single smartphone. On the other hand, users are still limited to using only one smartwatch at a time but the feature makes it easier for users to switch between multiple watches.

The Maps feature was also update on the new WatchOS version. The updated version of Maps on the Apple Watch will now allow users to launch a menu screen with big shortcut buttons which can be used to provide directions, according to Wareable. The new My Location button also open up a map view where users can employ the Force Touch feature to bring up Search, Contacts, Transit and the Nearby feature.
