The new update to Maps v9.22 includes a number of latest features, refinement and much more. The new feature added let's you save maps offline, which was being asked by users for quite a long time. In addition to this, the developers have come up with making an Easter egg that might take you on a time travel into the past - to the 1979's.

According to Android Police, maps always used to save some data offline but that was not relevant enough in its usefulness. While only 2D maps could have been saved, the navigation option was still unavailable with the users. Though, few landmarks and saved places could be seen and put in some use by the user, but that was not a full time support.  However, in response to user requests, Google added offline support for navigation and search.

According to News Thrive, with the latest release, Google is to upgrade its capabilities beyond the online search engine, and provides offline content as well. The routes will be saved offline soon, and this will enhance the user experience since with this added feature on the Google maps, after putting starting and destination places App itself, will save the route, important landmarks in between, food points, pumps, alternate routes and so on. This app keep all the details you need on your travel and you will not need to worry a bit.

Just like the ice cream gag last year, this year the developer's team at Google has added the funky town. The 1979 disco scene of the hit song Funky town by Lipps Inc. probably might be the new gig. All users need to do is ask where is the Funky Town. The APK upgrades the existing App, but it is recommended for users to wait till Google pushes for an upgrade to their mobile devices that might take few weeks from now.
