Samsung Galaxy S7 enthusiasts had already created a general idea that the handset will be a Galaxy S5 in a Galaxy S6 package. However, a new report from device analysis group IHS revealed that there is little in the flagship device that is actually innovative.

The IHS claimed that the Samsung Galaxy S7 will not pack as much punch for its price compared to its competitors. The handset will cost $255 to manufacture between components and building, but can sell for over $672, depending on the seller. In comparison, the iPhone 6s will cost $187.91 for components and building, and can sell for $649.

The Samsung Galaxy S7 was the upgrade Samsung needed to do, Digitimes reported. However, there has been little trailblazing that happened on the product, IHS analyst Andrew Rassweiler stated in a research note. He claimed that it will be more a case of little refinements.

The device will include some very costly components like its Quad HD display and the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chip. These features will make up most of the device's price. While the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 is dubbed the fastest chip on the market, some tests have revealed that the upcoming Samsung device can be outperformed by the iPhone 6s.

HIS senior director Rassweiler, however, counted the refinement of the device's camera. Reportedly, it till will have fewer megapixels and its wider aperture than the Samsung Galaxy S6 is its huge improvement. These upgrades will help in sharper image creation and low-light situations.

Rassweiler also added that the reintroduction of features like a bigger battery, better storage and water resistance are also positive when coupled with particular design enhancements like the curved panel.

Samsung will keep the glass-and-metal body design it debuted through the Samsung Galaxy S6, while implementing expandable storage and water resistance ability. These features are reportedly what the iPhone 6s is releasing without. Samsung's marketing has previously pointed out the water limitations of the iPhone as compared to the Samsung Galaxy S7.

Samsung Galaxy S7 will be cheaper to manufacture than the 2015 Galaxy S6 Edge, which costs $290 for components and building. The fact that the device will include various similar features likely pushed towards the decrease in cost.
