Wargaming on Feb. 17 released "World of Tanks - Girls und Panzer" theme for PlayStation 4 users. This theme will allow PlayStation 4 users to customize their background and dynamic menu with art from both "World of Tanks" as well as "Girls und Panzer."

According to announcement made by PlayStation blog, "World of Tanks - Girls und Panzer" theme shall be available without any charge to all PlayStationTM Network account holders. The theme shall be made available through PlayStation Store. Detailed instructions to download the theme are mentioned in PlayStation blog.

"World of Tanks" is a popular multiplayer online game developed by a Belarusian-Cypriot company - Wargaming. Though it traditionally was a PC game, its developers are now attempting to build a niche within gaming consoles section. The game was globally launched on PlayStation 4 in Jan. 19. According to PlayStation Lifestyle, it has surpassed one million downloads on PlayStation 4 since its launch.

According to reports by Inquisitr, the release of "Girls und Panzer" theme is a part of Wargaming's efforts to promote "World of Tanks" in PlayStation 4. While launching "World of Tanks," PlayStation 4 users were promised of new content and regular updates, and "Girls und Panzer" theme seems to be a part of this promised delivery.

Gamasutra reported that the new theme tries to synthesize artwork from "World of Tanks," with motifs from hit anime series "Girls und Panzer." Both games relate to online fights through tanks.

It was mentioned that the plot line of "Girls und Panzer" revolves around tank warfare as a sport between girls' high schools. This sport is referred to as sensha-do. In this sport, girls battle each other using "World War II" tanks. According to Gamasutra, the series focuses on its protagonist - Miho Nishizumi - and her struggle to mold her underdog team into serious contenders for National Sensha-Do championships. The series has been adapted into a manga series, light novel and a movie in Japan.
