The sequel is said to join other major PS4 games such as "God of War", "Spider-Man", "Days Gone" that will be teased at the annual trade expo. But while an official reveal of "The Last of Us 2" is yet to take place at E3, plot theories continue to build up online.

The recent one that is making the rounds goes back to the time before the sequel was announced at PlayStation Experience in December last year. These latest fan theories that suggest Ellie being kidnapped and underwent some experiment done to her by some government agency.

Based on the latest plot rumors, "The Last of Us 2" story will evolve around the pregnancy of Ellie. It is claimed to have been the outcome of an experiment and the baby will serve as the antidote to the cordyceps virus that causes humans to turn into a horde of undead.

Interestingly, rumors of Ellie getting pregnant in the sequel first came about when gamers discovered an easter egg in Naughty Dog's "Uncharted 4". One of the scenes in the game showed "The Last of Us" poster that has a pregnant woman wearing a gas mask on it, leading the fans to speculate that it could be Ellie.

When the game developer released the TLOU 2 reveal trailer showing Ellie's bloody revenge, many thought that her feeling of hate emanates from her suffering in the hands of the people who did such horrible things to her.

It has been six months since fans received official announcement from Naughty Dog about "The Last of Us 2", which is why an E3 reveal is deemed to be plausible. So, stay tuned.
