New 'Mirror's Edge Catalyst' trailer features Faith's backstory, main villain [VIDEO]; Electronic Arts announce close beta sign ups for the PS4, Xbox One, PC!

"Mirror's Edge Catalyst" will feature a new story gameplay trailer and Electronic Arts announced close beta test sign up for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC platforms.

EA and DICE showcased a new trailer for "Mirror's Edge Catalyst" and it reveals Faith Connor's backstory, her time with the Runners and battling a new nemesis, Gabriel Kruger. As seen in the video, Faith is on the run from Gabriel Kruger and his evil Conglomerate as the viewers learned that she has stolen something from him, something that will have a serious effect on the Runners and the citizens in the City of Glass.

The trailer also features some unique gameplay mechanics as "Mirror's Edge Catalyst" will have face-paced parkour free-run, close combat and tease of the open world exploration. DICE also teased a complex multiplayer mode were in players will see traces of other gamers and each action can affect "the world around them".

Dash races will be introduced to players were in they will compete against friends and random players in a set of races for the top spot at the leader boards, Gamerant reported.

Aside from the game trailer, EA and DICE announced a new closed beta test as gamers are encourage to sign up early the game's official website.

The close beta will be available for the PS4 and Xbox One consoles, as well as for the PC via EA's own digital distribution, Origin. DICE added that they will reveal more details for the closed beta soon before "Mirror's Edge Catalyst's" official game launch and everyone will get early access to exclusive content and in-game rewards when they sign up for the beta test.

"Mirrors Edge Catalyst" Design Director Erik Odeldahl stated that they had to rebuilt the movement system of the game from ground up in order to make it more responsive, smooth and unrestricted than the first game, SegmentNext reported.

Pre-order bonuses for "Mirror's Edge Catalyst" will include the "Combat Runner Kit" and "Speed Runner Kit", which contains new combat techniques and parkour moves. Combat and Speed shaders allows gamers to change their appearances, while the Runner Tags will feature other players in the leader boards and Unique Background will allow player's to customize their Screen Hacks.

Senior Producer Sarah Jansson teased that an offline mode will be featured in the game, but encourage gaming fans to try its online gameplay.

"Mirror's Edge Catalyst" will be release on May 24 in the United States and May 26 in Europe for the PS4, Xbox One and the PC platform.
