The latest development on the release of the new "Assassin's Creed" game later in 2017 was first reported by WWG. The publication claimed the the 2017 AC game is officially titled "Assassin's Creed: Origins" that will be a prequel of the series.

Then sources confirmed the said title and that it is a prequel. In addition, it will be launched later in 2017 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows PC.

Following this initial leak surrounding the release of "Assassins Creed: Origins", an an off-screen image has surfaced online. Then again, three separate sources of Eurogamer verified that the leaked screenshot is "real" or legit.

The said image first appeared on Reddit, which user "shoutouttoashraf" shared on the site. It is worth nothing that the username that is now deleted sounds to have a reference with Ashraf Ismail.

Ismail is noted as a member of Ubisoft team that was behind the development of "Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag". At present, he is also said to be involved in a secret project at Ubisoft Montreal.

Back to the image in question, it shows a mysterirous character on board a boat, equipped with a bow and arrow as weapon and a shield on his back. It further confirms the return of boats to the franchise, which first appeared in "Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag".

Moreover, the leaked image that can be seen via Imgur also reveals the game mission called "Assassinate the Crocodile". The text on the photo reads: "Follow Shadya to Khenut's villa."

This text indeed confirm that the prequel will take players back to earliest times of Egypt. Khenut was Queen and wife to King Unas who was the ruler on the 5th Egyptian dynasty.

A Ubisoft representative has declined, however, to comment on rumors and speculations. So, fans should wait up a little more since it's just weeks away until E3 this June and hear more from Ubisoft about "Assassin's Creed: Origins" formerly referred to as "Assassin's Creed Empire".
