The battle to dominate the electric vehicle market rages on as Faraday Future recently unveiled its newest concept car at the Consumer Electronics Show 2016. Despite the remarkable feat from the Chinese billionaire-backed startup, experts believe that Tesla can do more than that within the next two years.

At the CES presentation, Faraday Future executive Jia Yueting mentioned very interesting developments as far as the company's current car development is concerned. The Chinese billionaire mentioned futuristic ideas like battery strings, aero tunnels and Variable Platform Architecture.

Jia is also investing $1 billion to construct the 3 million square foot manufacturing facility in North Las Vegas. Analysts expect that the project would create at least 4,500 direct jobs on the site.

Even though Faraday Futures is facing massive development upgrades, the company will not be able to produce its first production vehicle within the next "couple of years" as testified by senior vice president and former Tesla engineer Nick Sampson.

The biggest challenge right now is whether Tesla Motors is capable of further developing the Model X crossover and establish a stranglehold of the growing electric car market.

Faraday Future said that the company is doubling its efforts and is pouring every resource it has in the development of the Variable Platform Architecture. The company claims that with VPA, they will be able to create almost any type of cars due to its modular design.

Sampson told The Verge, "That platform is done on a very modular and flexible basis such that we can change the size of the platform."

Experts are still divided whether Faraday Future's modular Variable Platform Architecture along with its diverse set of technologies are interesting enough to set it apart from Tesla, according to Forbes.

When Faraday Future first came into mainstream consciousness, the initial response of the tech company was that it is Apple's secret lab rebranded into a new company. Apple did not confirm this rumor but it is important to note that the Cupertino-based tech giant has also announced its plans of entering not only the electric car market but the autonomous car industry as well.

Despite the emergence of Chinese billionaire Jia Yeuting who appears to be behind Faraday Future's massive budget, rumors continue to buzz suspecting that Apple plays a hidden hand behind the car company's projects.
