Yotaphone 3 Dual-Screen Smartphone Might be Available for Pre-Order This Summer

The Yotaphone 3 smartphone with a dual screen might be available for pre-order this summer. It has been teased on the official website of the Russian maker of the Yotaphones, Yota, confirming the reality of the much-discussed handset.

There is not much information about the upcoming Yotaphone 3. But it highlights the dual-screen design from the outlines of mirror image phones. It is assumed to be the phone's selling point.

Yota released their latest smartphone Yotaphone 2 in Asia and Europe in late 2014. It was supposed to be unveiled in the United States through a crowdfunding campaign in 2015. It was a bit pricey at that time with higher specifications but can now be purchased for as little as $140.

The Yotaphone 2 has now Android Marshmallow via OTA update. It has a 5-inch AMOLED screen display on one side with a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels, a pixel density of 442 pixels per inch (ppi), and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. It also has a black and white 4.7-inch E-Ink display on the other side with a resolution of 960 x 540 pixels and a pixel density of 235 ppi.

The Yotaphone 2 is powered by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 chipset clocked at a speed of 2.3 GHz and accompanied with Krait 400 core processing unit and Adreno 330 graphics processing unit. An Android 4.4.3 KitKat operating system is running that can be upgraded into Marshmallow 6.0.

The Yotaphone 2 comes with a 2GB of RAM in a 32GB of built-in non-expandable storage. It sports an 8-megapixel autofocus camera at the back with LED flash accompanied with a 2.1-megapixel front-facing camera. It is capable of 1080p video recording at 30 frames per second and other camera features including panorama, touch focus, high-definition resolution, face detection, and geotagging.

The Yotaphone 2 is loaded with a 2500 mAh non-replaceable Li-Ion battery that can last up to 41 hours and 40 minutes on 2G and 26 hours on 3G during talk time. It can also reach up to 92 hours of music play and standby mode of up to 397 hours (2G) and 406 hours (3G).
