The latest updates for "Overwatch" will feature development progress on Doomfist and the game director responds to game smurfing.

Blizzard Entertainment made some announcements regarding the development of the rumored "Overwatch" hero Doomfist as game director Jeff Kaplan stated that the possible 25th DLC character is "very far along development."

But Kaplan explained that he knows who the next character is and they currently working on the art and a lot of "aggressive play-testing." The game director also said that the team is set on “what the abilities are and how they interact” though any other "Overwatch" heroes beyond that are still in the “prototype” or “exploration” phase of development, Gamerant reported.

Doomfist is a character who has been teased plenty by Blizzard Entertainment, with "Overwatch" updates continuing to reference the hero. It has been hinted in several news sources that Doomfist will likely be voiced by "White Chicks" star Terry Crews, going so far as making a mocked audition tape citing lines for the character.

In other news, the "Overwatch" community has been complaining the rise of game smurfing, as well as the many problems associated with the troubling trend.

Smurfs are basically high-level players who create new accounts for various reasons. This can be because their main account got banned, they want a secondary account as backup, or are simply interested in a fresh start. The reset of the internal matchmaking means that smurfs are bound to be matched against newcomers or those fairly placed in the lower rungs of the ladder.

Naturally, there is a large difference in terms of skill and smurfs progress by stomping low-level opponents who are unfortunate enough to be matched in such games.

However, Blizzard is not all bothered by the issue as Kaplan explained that the reality is, skilled players are moved rapidly out of lower skill situations, SegmentNext reported.

With that in mind, Blizzard does not consider smurfing to be cheating, but it does have problems when it comes to boosting game stats in "Overwatch." Highly skilled players smurfing on other accounts to help increase their ranking is punishable in the eyes of the company.

"Overwatch" is currently available for the PS4, Xbox One and PC platforms.
