Rumors are rife that Apple is indeed working on a 4-inch iPhone that will be launched as iPhone 5se.  Early speculations indicate that Apple will be aiming it towards the emerging markets.

Since 2014 when Apple release large-sized smartphones, iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, the company has not released a 4-inch sized iPhone. Even though the 4.7-inch iPhone 6/6S and 5.5-inch iPhone 6/6S Plus smartphones have received rave reviews from audience and critics, research has revealed that iPhone lovers still love to use compact sized 4-inch iPhone.

Hence, Apple is heavily pegged to release a 4-inch iPhone called iPhone 5se as early as March this year. According to the market research conducted by Nikkei, the handset seems to be under production stage so that it could be available for purchase by spring. Speculations are rife that the Apple iPhone 5se will be targeted towards developing markets, G for Games reported.

In the recent past, it was reported that Apple had for the first time encountered quarterly loss in the iPhone business. One of the major reasons behind it could that the market for high-end or flagship smartphones may have become saturated now. More and more customers prefer to use budget phones that come with attractive specs and features.

Android smartphones are currently ruling the emerging markets. Hence, in order to popularize itself in the developing markets, Apple will be heavily banking on the iPhone 5se. The alleged smartphone is said to be an upgraded version of the iPhone 5S. Moreover, it is expected to be come with features of iPhone 6 series.

In the past too, the Cupertino company had made an attempt to attract the emerging markets by releasing the iPhone 5C smartphone alongside the iPhone 5S in 2013. Even though the iPhone 5C managed to achieve good sales, it did not receive good reception from the audience mainly because the plastic body feature handset came with expensive price tag.

The iPhone 5Se is expected to come with full-metal design along with multiple color options. It is expected to feature Apple A9 chipset and 1 GB of RAM. Other rumored features of the iPhone 5se include 8 MP rear camera, 1.2 MP selfie shooter, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, VoLTE and more, Cult of Mac reported. Speculations suggest that it will be costing around $400 to $500.
