Dell has just released the 2017 version of its top-end XPS 15 laptop and it appears to have quite an extensive list of upgrades that truly lives up to its name as the ultimate Windows 10 laptop. Though the laptop's appearance highly resembles the 2016 model, under its hood it sports some of the greatest and most advanced tech.

As per Pocket-lint, the 2017 Dell XPS 15 laptop now sports the latest Intel Kaby Lake processor. Other laptops sport the Kaby Lake chips that have dual-core U-series. However, with the XPS 15, it packs the full-on Intel Core i7-7700HQ Quad-core chip. The latest processor boasts three times the power of its dual-core i7 counterparts. Pairing a 32GB RAM with a powerful processor would likely be an option for serious users. In fact, the unit can be equipped with much less powered processor.

In comparison with those serious gaming laptops available in the market today, the 2017 Dell XPS 15 can't really catch up to the competition. However, it can still run the most demanding games at apt frame rates, thanks to the GeForce GTX 1050 graphics card that comes with all Dell XPS 15 models.

With regards to the display, the Dell XPS 15 will be coming with two display options. This includes a full 4K display and a full HD 1080p screen. Most people would likely choose the 4K display immediately, but note that the larger resolution display will apparently draw out more power. Users should opt for the standard 1080p display if they want a better battery life.

The Dell XPS 15 is a bit on the heavy side at 4.5 pounds when compared to the other laptops in its class. To fit in all of the technologies that it comes with, its weight may have been an essential sacrifice. The laptop is equipped with various ports. Some of which include a USB Type-C port with Thunderbolt support, a USB 3.0 port, a charging port and an HDMI 2. For those who want to further expand its storage, the unit comes with a built-in SD card reader as well.

The 2017 Dell XPS 15 laptop will be priced at around $1,000 for the base Core i3 model. Given Dell's features and performance capabilities, it will sound like a relative bargain when compared to an Apple MacBook Pro with the same specs.
