One popular theory happens to be the ending of the first game, where in players are left quetioning what is next for Ellie after the events after "The Last of Us" leading to the sequel. The theory hints in the PlayStation Blog website that Ellie could be pregnant after the ending of "The Last of Us" as fans pointed out that an Easter Egg for the game was found in "Uncharted 4".

The Easter Egg comes in the form of a pregnant woman wearing a gas mask that hid her face. Fans argued that the woman could be an older version of Ellie, while others claim that this cannot be the case, as Ellie is immune to the virus that plagued the world.

Regardless, another argument is that she would not take any chances as a future mother to keep her baby safe. A new and interesting take on the narrative of "The Last of Us 2" as it will reveal a more in-depth par of Ellie’s character in the game.

Previously known as the child whom Joel had been struggling to protect in "The Last of Us", perhaps the sequel will be a reversal of roles this time as Ellie will protect a child of her own.

Meanwhile, "The Last of Us" game writer Neil Druckmann teased that the ending of "The Last of Us 2" could have a very bad one.

Druckmann stated in an interview that story of "The Last of Us 2" will be about the "cycle of violence and hatred," opposite to love and hope themed present in the first game.

The first game featured Joel struggling to survive in an infected world and became uncaring and cynical after losing his child. This all change when he met Ellie, who gave him something to fight for throughout the game's story.

When asked about what gaming fans will expect from "The Last of Us 2" ending, Druckmann stated that he does not feel like the sequel needs "a happy ending" this time around, after the first game.

It just feels natural now that the story could be coming with some tough decision, which were in the first "The Last of Us" game too, resulting in something disappointing and sad for fans, Gamepur reported.

There is no release date yet for "The Last of Us 2" on the PlayStation 4.
