Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer Will Give Up Millions

Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer waived her pay for 2017 in favor of the company's hardworking employees. She entered into a stipulation with the Yahoo board to withhold her annual bonus last year and to forgo any annual equity award she may receive this year.

Her 2016 annual bonus amounts around $2 million, while her equity award this year should not be less than $12 million according to her contract. According to USA Today, the announcement came out when its financial data was revealed by the Securities and Exchange Commission. The company will also be sold to Verizon later this year for $4.47 billion, which already includes the $350 million discount.

Millions of users have been affected due to massive data breach, which revealed all types of crucial information. The head lawyer of Yahoo Ron Ben was even bounced due to negligence on his part.

When Yahoo announced data thefts of more than 500 million email accounts in September, it has threatened its deal with Verizon. It was then found out in December that there are more than 1 billion accounts stolen in 2013.

According to Yahoo's committee, his team should have warranted further inquiry in 2014 when they obtained sufficient information with regard to the massive breach of the customer database.  There are also multiple sources telling that some major security execs already left including Alex Stamos who was once the chief information security officer of Yahoo.

Meanwhile, Yahoo General Counsel Ronald Bell left his job, without any severance according to a report in Business Insider. The company said "no payments are being made to Mr. Bell in connection with his resignation."
