Apple fans were pumped up after leaks revealed that the iPhone 8 will support a one-of-a-kind technology that has never been seen on any smartphone yet. However, there are new reports that the company might ditch the much-awaited wireless charging feature to avoid Samsung's disastrous fate.

After the traumatizing Samsung Galaxy Note 7 fiasco, Apple is reportedly taking calculated steps to prevent a potential battery dilemma that might cause harm not only to its users but also to its reputation.

Harlan Sur, an analyst from JPMorgan, revealed that Apple has teamed up with Broadcom to develop a customized wireless charging system, and both companies spent more than two years developing a solution. But given this development, Sur noted that Apple might forgo the plan.

But do not be totally disappointed guys as Sur added that the iPhone 8 might instead sport some other exclusive charging features.

"It is possible for Apple to add proprietary features such as fast charging or extended charging to differentiate itself from the pack and enhance the value of its own hardware ecosystem," he said, adding that the phone's glass back cover is more suitable for wireless charging as it lessens signal interference.

Meanwhile, talks that start-up firm Energous will be supplying Apple's wireless charging tech have been debunked, according to IBTimes. However, credible KGB analyst Ming-Chi Kuo revealed that all three flagships smartphones in Apple's lineup this year will support wireless charging technology.

It is not clear yet what type of charging system the iPhone 8 will be powered with.
