Xiaomi unveiled a newer variant of Redmi 4 called the Redmi 4X phone during the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2017. The device is powered by Snapdragon 435 and comes with improved LTE connectivity

The China-based tech giant announced the Redmi 4X smartphone exclusive only for the China market. Most of the specifications are similar to the Redmi 4, except the chipset and the LTE speed.

The Redmi 4X phone sports a 5-inch display with a HD resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. Under the hood there is a Snapdragon 435 chipset that includes a 1.4 GHz octa-core A53 processor and Adreno 505 graphics. The Redmi 4 features a Snapdragon 430 SoC.

The Xiaomi Redmi 4X comes in two variants. The first variant has 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal storage, while the other variant is packed with a 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB internal storage. The device includes a external storage that supports up to 128 GB microSD card. The phone is loaded with Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS that has MIUI 8 skin on its top. It features a 13-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front shooter.

It is equipped with a 4,100 mAh capacity battery. The smartphone supports dual SIM and VoLTE. It gives faster LTE speeds of 300 Mbps for downloading and 100 Mbps for uploading. The Redmi 4X will be available in three color variants of Cherry Pink, Champagne Gold, and Mate Black.

Redmi 4X Pricing

The Redmi 4X will be released only in China market. Currently the China-based company did not disclose if the device will be made available outside its boundary. The variant with a 16 GB is priced at Yuan 699 ($100), while the other variant with a 32 GB storage is costing Yuan 899 ($130), GSMArena reported.

The smartphone features a full metal body. It includes a fingerprint scanner located on the back of the phone. The device is 8.65 mm in thickness and weighs 150 grams, IndianExpress reported.

It is learnt that Xiaomi is working on its next flagship smartphone, the Mi 6. The device is said to come with a dual-edged curved screen. According to leaks shared on Weibo by a leakster, the smartphone is likely to feature a 4 GB of RAM and come in two storage variants of 32 GB and a 64 GB respectively. It is speculated to sport a 12-megapixel rear camera and a 8-megapixel front shooter.
