YouTube is now entering the industry of video streaming which is currently occupied by Netflix, Hulu and other video streaming services offering on-demand programming. It is launching a 35 USD per month TV service which could further affect traditional cable providers. YouTube unveiled YouTube TV on Feb. 28 as its response to Dish SlingTV, AT&T DirecTV and Sony PlayStation Vue. Hulu is about to launch a live TV service this year as well.

The 35 USD monthly fee does not require contracts and a subscriber is allowed to cancel anytime. YouTube is also offering an unlimited DVR service but shows will be automatically removed after nine months. YouTube TV will be available in big U.S. markets in a couple of months from now and it will expand its coverage to more cities soon. There is still no word on an international release but according to reports, it appears unlikely.

ABC, CBS, Fox and NBC will be included in YouTube TV but it will not have Turner or Viacom channels. The list of networks includes SyFy, USA Network, Disney Channel, ESPN, FX, MSNBC and the company's paid tier, no-ads service YouTube Red.

Like other similar services, YouTube TV will allow users to stream using several platforms such as connected TVs, set-top boxes, smartphones, tablets, and desktop, or laptop computers. Subscribers may only stream on TV if they have Chromecast or a Google Cast-capable TV.

Each YouTube TV subscription comes with six accounts with different recommendations and unlimited DVR features. Three accounts may access the service anytime. According to reports, YouTube TV with work with Google Home as well. YouTube TV will have a separate app which users can use to cycle through shows.
