Vertu has experienced some business-related changes in the last couple of years. However, the company continues to offer premium-quality luxury smartphones for its consumers. The Vertu Constellation 2017 is the company's first classy smartphone to support a dual-SIM setup. The Constellation is also Vertu's first smartphone that comes with top-shelf specifications.

Design

The Vertu Constellation 2017 has an appearance that matches its price tag. The smartphone is reportedly hand-built in England, and its frame is constructed out of anodized aluminum. The rear panel is covered with a leather finish with its camera module and dual-LED flash sandwiched in between. Engadget reported the leather used by the smartphone comes from an exclusive Italian family-run tannery.

Its front features a fingerprint reader with stereo speakers below the display and above as well as an earpiece with a selfie camera on the top. The bottom holds its USB type-C port, while the top portion has its 3.5mm audio port. A strip of leather can be seen towards the bottom. The right frame houses the power/sleep button and volume rocker. The left flank bears its SIM tray and a special button made out of ruby.

Hardware and camera

The premium device comes with a 5.5-inch AMOLED display bearing a 2560 x 1440 resolution for a total ppi of 538. Its touchscreen packs 140 carat with a scratch-proof sapphire display cover. The smartphone relies on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chipset with 4GB of RAM and boasts of a 3,220mAh rechargeable battery with wireless charging technology.

The Vertu Constellation 2017 comes with 128GB of internal memory and a microSD card slot for memory expansion, GSM Arena reported. Its main camera is a 12MP unit with 1.55 micro-pixels intended for low-light conditions. The selfie camera up front has a 4MP sensor. The Constellation runs on the Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow and features Dolby Digital Plus virtual surround sound audio-enhancement technology.

Release date and price

The Vertu Constellation 2017 will be officially launched in mid-February and will be available in the company's specialty stores. The official price of the device has not been revealed.
