Design

Although the Porsche Design Mate 9 is just a modified version of the Huawei Mate 9, it physically looks and feels different`from the original, Android Authority reported. The rear panel of the original model sports a fingerprint sensor below the camera module, while the Porsche model only sports a logo below its shooter. The original unit has a soft matte texture, while the premium version bears a brushed metal feel.

The front panel of regular model features an earpiece with an ambient light sensor and selfie camera up top. The physical home button of the limited edition version doubles as its fingerprint sensor. The original version of the Mate 9 has plastic components for its signal, while the Porsche sports antenna lines to match its opulent design.

Other key differences are the stereo speaker grille and USB type-C port on the bottom frame of the regular version, while the Porsche variant comes with a single speaker grille, USB type-C port, and 3.5mm audio jack down below. The 3.5mm audio jack of the regular Mate 9 is located on the top. Both units feature a power button and volume rocker on their right and a SIM card tray on the left.

Hardware and camera

The Porshe Design Mate 9 smartphone relies on a Kirin 960 chipset with 6GB of RAM, which is higher than the 4GB on its regular model. Its internal storage is a hefty 256GB over the 64GB of the original. According to GSM Arena, the phone comes with a 4000mAh battery with a quick-charge technology, giving it a whole-day usage time with just 20 minutes of charging.

The new smartphone boasts of a 5.5-inch 2K-resolution curved display compared to the 5.9-inch FHD unit of the original. The Mate 9 runs on the Android 7.0 with Huawei's EMUI software. Its imaging performance is powered by a dual 12MP RGB and 20MP Monochrome Leica sensors with OIS technology. It also comes with a special leather flip case with two charging adapters.
