Reports are claiming that the Chinese tech giant Huawei is planning to launch four new devices for its P9 series but not at the upcoming 2016 Mobile World Congress.

The rumor was first picked up by Venture Beat which reported that Huawei will release four devices under the P9 flagship brand. It is believed that Huawei will release a regular P9 model, a budget-friendly P9elite and the P9max. The fourth device is believed to be a premium P9 model.

The premium P9 model is rumored to have a larger screen, more RAM and storage space. It also has a significantly upgraded camera with dual lens and dual sensor configuration which was highlighted by the Huawei Honor 6 Plus.

The Honor 6 Plus was widely praised for its camera features. It includes simulated aperture adjustment, post-capture refocus and filter application. With the upcoming P9 premium model, analysts are expecting more unique features.

Despite advances in technology, the upcoming P9 devices will not have Quad HD screen resolution. Huawei believes that a slight improvement in screen resolution is not worth the trade off in power consumption as higher resolution screens demand more battery power.

If this is true, then the Nexus 6P will remain as the only Huawei-built phone with QHD resolution.

People who have insider information said that Huawei is not planning to release the new P9 devices at the 2016 MWC since it is expecting that most of its rivals are going to use the event to launch their own flagship devices. Instead, Huawei is planning to stage a major event dedicated to unveiling the new devices weeks after the MWC fair.

Nevertheless, Huawei will still appear at the 2016 MWC. Rumors claim that the Chinese tech giant is planning to reveal a device based on the Surface Book by Microsoft. Huawei has kept a quiet word about the device but if rumors are true, it will feature an Android dual-boot option with Windows capabilities.

Hybrid devices are slowly becoming a trend as big tech companies like Lenovo, Dell and HP are joining the foray. According to Phone Radar, the upcoming Surface-like hybrid device is called Matebook.
