Mercedes-AMG has been teasing the motoring community for quite some time now with its hypercar project. Recently, Mercedes-AMD revealed the official title of its clandestine venture namely Project One. The project aims to merge F1 technologies to road-legal specifications.

"The hypercar will be the missing link legitimizing the integration of AMG with the Formula One Team. It will be limited production, and ideally we want it to be sold out before the first one is delivered. It's the first street legal car with a Formula One engine," Daimler chief executive officer Dieter Zetsche told Top Gear.

Mercedes-AMG is Mercedes-Benz' performance division, and the team behind it have been working tirelessly to create a car like the one in Project One. According to The Motor Report, the AMG team has confirmed that the car will have a combined power output of more than 735kW delivered to all its four wheels.

Mercedes-AMG is not messing around. The Project One hypercar packs 1,000-horsepower. With this feat, Mercedes-AMG is raising the bar in terms of the hypercar market with the likes of the Ferrari LaFerrari, McLaren P1, Bugatti Chiron, and Porsche 918 vying for supremacy.

Mercedes-AMG's Project One has a unique hybrid system attached to an all-wheel drive drivetrain. With this configuration, compared to F1's rear-wheel drive only layout, Project One can essentially travel up to 25 kilometers without emitting any harmful substance.

Aside from the recently published rear-side silhouette shot of the Project One, Mercedes-AMG is keeping all details regarding the project a tightly kept secret. AMG is expected to celebrate its 50th anniversary in September, and it is widely rumored that the division will use this event as the main stage to finally reveal the finer details regarding the Project One hypercar. The official specs, price, and release date of the Project One are expected to be revealed at the event as well.
