Japanese automaker Honda unveiled the 2018 Odyssey minivan at the recently opened Detroit Auto Show. The new fifth-generation Odyssey sports a modern look, several tech upgrades, and a handful of improvements under the hood as well.

At a quick look, not much has changed regarding the Odyssey's look. However, a closer inspection reveals some interesting design. The new Odyssey sports a completely redesigned front grill. The new grill now stretches into the pair of headlights that flanks it.

The 2018 Odyssey is equipped with Honda's new infotainment system. The minivan has an 8-inch touchscreen located on the dashboard with a manual volume knob. Honda also added a new feature called Social Play List which allows up to eight smartphones to upload their songs into the van's audio system.

According to Engadget, a new 10.2-inch ceiling-mounted display is also added on the rear-seat. Honda's new software supports iHeart Radio, PBS Kids, and Spotify, along with a lost list of supported apps as well. A new app called "How Much Farther App" shows the progress of the current road trip the vehicle is taking. Another app can control the van's climate system, entertainment system, as well as send directions from a smartphone directly into the vehicle's navigation system.

Under the hood, the 2018 Odyssey packs a 3.5-liter V6 direct injected engine which can produce up to 280 horsepower, which is 32 more compared to the 2017 model, according to Digital Trends. The standard and mid-tiered models come with a nine-speed automatic transmission, while high-end models have a 10-speed automatic drivetrain. Honda claims that the new Odyssey will be the best-in-class choice when it comes to fuel efficiency, although the company is yet to reveal the official gas mileage ratings.

The 2018 Honda Odyssey is expected to hit the market within the coming months. Honda is yet to confirm the official price of the vehicle.
